MS-CC Invites Student Participation in 2025 Annual Meeting

Selected students will join us for community, collaboration and connection at the 2025 MS-CC Annual Meeting. We’ve planned activities that will hone their technical skills while offering engagement with their peers and professionals in their chosen field.

Signature Student Event: Hackathon at Meharry Medical College 

In conjunction with the 2025 MS-CC Annual Meeting, selected students will have a unique opportunity to participate in a hackathon at Meharry Medical College. 

During the hackathon, students will create an innovative household carbon footprint calculator to promote environmental awareness and sustainable living, utilizing a CI tool, such as Github Classroom (provided by ESIILL), eliminating the need for local software installations.

Participation in the hackathon will enhance students’ environmental knowledge, sharpen their technical skills such as Python, and give them experience collaborating with like-minded individuals from HBCUs and TCUs. Black Codes, a Nashville-based organization, will provide them with guidance and mentorship. 

The hackathon experience and projects will be showcased on LinkedIn, boosting students' professional careers and opening doors to future opportunities.

Space is limited. The hackathon is included in general registration for the MS-CC Annual Meeting.
 

How to Apply to the Hackathon

• Applications for the Hackathon closed on March 31, 2025. 

• Those students selected to participate will receive follow-up communications about registering for the MS-CC Annual meeting, applying for travel support, and securing their hotel lodging by April 28, 2025.
