Call for Track Session Proposal
-CLOSED-

The Program Committee has identified the following focus areas to be highlighted across the various meeting tracks:

  • Services above the network, e.g. Cloud Services; shared resources
  • Advanced Network and Network services leadership
  • The US Unified Community Anchor Network (US UCAN)
  • National/Regional network organizations collaboration
  • Global reach and leadership
  • Research community development and engagement
  • Industry partnership development and engagement

The Program Committee expanded the Teaching and Learning track to include all community anchor organizations at the Spring 2011 Internet2 Member Meeting. Also new with the Spring 2011 Member Meeting, will be a focus on the Internet2 community's role in executing the National Broadband Strategy. Proposals for study sessions on this topic, where participants will be asked to come prepared to discuss related questions and issues (e.g. why is the higher ed community taking responsibility for things that are not the core mission of their institutions?) will be considered for inclusion into the program.

The Member Meeting Program Committee is now accepting proposals for track sessions at the Spring 2011 Internet2 Member Meeting, which will be held at the Crystal Gateway Marriott .

Full explanations and examples of related topics, as well as the submission form, are provided in the Call for Proposals web page.

Submission deadline: January 31, 2011
Selection notification: February 18, 2011

Call for Side Meetings
CLOSED

One of the many benefits of member meetings is the opportunity to hold small working meetings (e.g. working groups, BoFs, SIGS, etc.) in conjunction with the formal meeting activities. In order to accommodate the requests for these side meetings, we will reserve incremental hotel space at times outside of the normal track sessions. To aid us in handling and filling your requests for these additional meetings, we are issuing a Call for Side Meetings with a deadline of January 31, 2011.

Meetings will be accepted based on space availability and we will attempt to accommodate all requests on a first come, first serve basis. Please Note: Side meetings should be open to all Internet2 Member Meeting attendees. If you need to schedule an invitation-only or closed meeting, Internet2 will reserve a room for you. However, you will be responsible for notifying people about the meeting yourself and you must provide your email address so others can contact you.

Your flexibility with day/time and meeting duration requests will assist us in accommodating your side meeting needs.

Submission deadline: January 31, 2011

Call for Posters
CLOSED

Poster sessions are an intentionally low-tech forum for the exchange of information and ideas about collaborations, projects and works-in-progress. The posters convey stories through the use of graphs, diagrams, pictures, data, and narrative text displayed on 2 foam core poster boards (each approx. 30" x 40"). The posters are on display near the meeting registration area continuously throughout the 3-day meeting; participants informally discuss their presentations with meeting attendees during the staffed hours for poster sessions. In addition, poster presenters are invited to display their posters in the hotel ballroom during the Monday evening Welcome Reception.

All categories of Internet2 membership—Higher Education , Industry, Affiliate, R&E Network members and International MOU partners—are welcome to submit proposals for poster sessions. Each poster submission must contain:

  • Title
  • Institution or organization name
  • Brief abstract
  • Contact name and email address

Space is limited; posters will be considered on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Degree of anticipated interaction and information sharing with meeting attendees; relevance of the discussion to advancing their work
  • Impact of advanced networking and advanced applications, with an emphasis on things that are not possible or reasonable to do with the commodity Internet
  • Demonstration of the value of Internet2 to its members and how advanced networking technologies further the mission of research, teaching and learning

Selection Begins: February 15, 2011

Call for Sponsors

Internet2 is inviting members to sponsor the welcome reception, the international reception, meals, and refreshment breaks during the Spring 2011 Internet2 Member Meeting. On Sunday, April 25, the International Reception will be held at the hotel for international partners. On Monday, April 26, a Member Meeting Welcome Reception will be held at the hotel for all meeting attendees. In addition to reception events we seek support for meeting lunch and refreshment breaks.

Member meetings provide an opportunity for face-to-face dialogue among members of the Internet2 community. Meeting attendees are Higher Education and Industry CIOs, top-level managers, and campus technical services implementers; last spring nearly 550 attended our meeting in Arlington, VA.

Sponsorship of this set of activities provides an opportunity to increase visibility with the higher education community. Sponsors will be acknowledged via signage at the event site, recognized in the published meeting program and on the meeting website. In addition we are open to suggestions regarding other ways in which we can acknowledge generous support.

If you would like to become a meeting sponsor or have any questions about sponsorship opportunities, please contact Ellen Vaughan.
