  • Session Evaluation
Session Abstract Video conferencing is becoming an increasingly important application everywhere. Networks that seem to be working perfectly for many applications are often found to fail for video conferencing. This session will explain why, and provide solutions for network engineers. A brief explanation of how video conferencing works and its standards and conventions will be followed by discussion of problems caused by things such as firewalls, NATS, ethernet wiring, hubs, duplex settings, packet loss, jitter, latency, speed, and contention. Various vendors have ways to reduce the effects of these problems, and they will be explained. Real-world examples of network problems and solutions will be presented by video engineers. Live demonstrations of how these problems affect video and audio quality will be shown so you can see them with your own eyes.
