Demo Description: This demonstration will focus on the multi-vendor, multi-screen interoperability features and capabilities supported by the MSE800 with TelePresence Server and Telepresence Interoperability Protocol (TIP) v6. Highlights will be a mix of single and multi-screen rooms, low-latency stream switching, and stream adaptation for optimized results and firewall traversal.
Cisco first released standard definition interoperability in Q2'CY08 and then upgraded it's interoperability capabilities from standard definition to high definition (720p) in Q4'CY09. In 1H'CY10, Cisco introduced two new interoperability solutions: The Cisco Media Experience Engine 5600 Series and the TelePresence Interoperability Protocol. Also in 1H'CY10, Cisco completed the acquisition of Tandberg, which will bring further interoperability capabilities to the market. Tandberg had already announced plans to implement the Cisco TelePresence Interoperability Protocol (independent of the acquisition).
Role of Internet2: The Internet2's leadership and partnership with the National and International Research and Education Community in support of TelePresence exchange services is critical to providing unified access to any institution or organization. This demonstration will also connect the existing Cisco Unified TelePresence Exchange for Research and Education, jointly operated by Internet2 and the NLR, thus expanding the benefits of the current services to include interoperability options.

Demo Description: There is an increasing disparity between the number of jobs requiring postsecondary degrees and the number of workers receiving them. One factor limiting the efficiency of higher education is the tremendous effort and cost required to integrate information systems across higher education institutions, service providers, and government agencies, which provide instruction and services to students. This high cost is largely the result of duplication of analysis and implementation work and a lack of sharing and re-use. Much like Google saves countless time and effort locating information and resources on the web, a web service index and registry helps integrators find web services that already exist, use them, and focus effort only on what remains to be done. EdUnify, a web service registry for higher education based on the BioCatalogue, enables collaboration, socialization and reuse of integration analysis and implementation. Web service registries have been employed successfully in other endeavors such as cancer research and life sciences to accelerate data interchange and reuse of costly analytical resources. With EdUnify, institutions of higher education, system vendors, and service providers will be able to integrate their systems more quickly and completely to offer new and improved services for students, faculty, and researchers.

Demo Description: The Direct-to-Discovery (D2D) program at Georgia Tech brings world-class researchers and their laboratories into K-12 classrooms via real-time two-way high definition (HD) streaming video coupled with high data-rate computer-enabled explorations along PeachNet. D2D enables K-12 teachers and researchers to collaborate in providing rich, up-to-date science content that inspires, motivates, and empowers experiential learning.
D2D has developed several modules that have been experienced by students in Ireland, Australia, and multiple counties in Georgia. This particular module brings to you into Dr. Jud Readys Carbon Nanotube (CNT) growth lab at Georgia Tech. Here you will interactively experience the steps for CNT formation via catalyzed pyrolytic decomposition of hydrocarbon gases. You will also go into Dr. Greg Book's Scanning Electron Microscopy lab at Georgia Tech. Here you will interactively experience the nanoscopic characterization of sample via secondary electron emission.
Role of Internet2: Internet2 provides the high bandwidth connection required for HD jitter-free 2-way communications between labs and remote classrooms.

Demo Description: Many researchers express a need for a more accessible and realistic wide-area route control. For instance, researchers would like to be able to safely inject routes into the Internet and observe their propagation, perhaps to measure performance characteristics or infer the topology of the underlying network. Unfortunately, today, such route control is hard to obtain: network operators are reluctant to provide routing connectivity for the sake of experimentation. We propose a Transit Portal (TP) that gives each experiment the illusion of direct connectivity to upstream ISPs, without requiring the researcher to deploy hardware, acquire IP address space, or negotiate contracts with ISPs. TP allows convenient wide-area routing experimentation while ensuring the safety of the Internet ecosystem.
Role of Internet2: Internet2 members are supplying the sites where we deploy Transit Portal. Internet2 members are also the primary users of Transit Portal.

Demo Description: Invision TV and Internet2 have partnered to develop and deploy a next-generation subscription IPTV service for universities that will deliver 75+ linear channels of IP video to TVs and PCs over the private nationwide Internet2 network. Invision TV and Internet2 will launch a 10 channel IPTV Technical Trial and 'proof of concept' with 20 universities and 500 users across the country in the Fall of 2010. The trial will allow Invision TV and Internet2 to prove out and demonstrate its IPTV technical platform with universities and programmers. The trial is a multicast-based IPTV service originating from the Invision TV Head-end, and will be distributed via the Internet2 network to member university campuses. Once on the campus network, the encrypted multicast streams are again delivered across the campus backbone to student residences and administrative or academic locations requiring television programming. The content format with be encrypted MPEG4, streaming at approximately 2Mb/sec/channel for standard definition programming. Universities will be required to ensure available bandwidth, multicasting and support on site. There is no member cost to participating in the trial.

Demo Description: LoDN is a flexible directory service for Logistical Networking that allows for the sharing of data and files between collaborators in the wide area using the IBP protocol. LoDN manages, monitors and maintains data distributed to IBP depots. LoDN features a directory service that provides a hierarchical exnode management. LoDN has a data dispatcher that offers automated, policy-drivent, block-level data movement and replication to end users and IBP middleware. Additionally LoDN has adaptive data placement that anticipates what data an endpoint will be needing and moves data closer to that point lowering the latency of wide area IO.

Demo Description: The Community Broadband Map, developed by the eCorridors program of Virginia Tech's central IT organization, is a web application integrating a Google Map with the Internet2 Network Diagnostic Tool (NDT), enabling the georeferencing and aggregation of many individual network performance test results from Internet users into a basis for conducting spatial analysis in a GIS environment to develop a predictive map of Internet availability.
Role of Internet2: Internet2 develops the tools and standards that make my application possible. The Community Broadband Map is heavily based on NDT, and Internet2 manages the NDT project.
