Call for Participation

Listed below are links to a variety of Calls for participation for the Spring 2007 Internet2 Member Meeting. Please carefully review the information and requirements for each Call prior to submitting a proposal or response.

Call for Track Session Proposals

Spring 2007 will be a pivotal time for the Internet2 community: the new Internet2 Network, with its 100 Gbps capacity and dynamic wave provisioning service, will be nearing full implementation; a new governance structure will be in place; and major new advanced research and education partnerships and initiatives--encompassing cyberinfrastructure, the TeraGrid, regional health networks, enterprise workflow, and more--will be underway.

The Spring 2007 Member Meeting program will focus on these many and varied activities along with the topics of strategy, policy and federal relationships that are customary at the spring meeting. There will not be a separate call for demonstrations, therefore presentations that incorporate demos are encouraged.

Full explanations and examples of related topics are provided in the Call for Proposals web page.

The call for proposals is now closed.

Call for Side Meetings

One of the many benefits of member meetings is the opportunity to hold small working meetings (e.g. working groups, BoFs, SIGS, etc.). in conjunction with the formal meeting activities. In order to accommodate the requests for these side meetings, we will reserve incremental hotel space at times outside of the normal track sessions. To aid us in handling and filling your requests for these additional meetings, we are issuing a Call for Side Meetings with a deadline of 26 January 2007.

Meetings will be accepted based on space availability and we will attempt to accommodate all requests on a first come, first serve basis. Your flexibility with day/time and meeting duration requests will assist us in accommodating your side meeting needs.

The call for side meetings is now closed.

Call for Posters

Poster sessions are an intentionally low-tech forum for the exchange of information and ideas about collaborations, projects and works-in-progress. The posters convey stories through the use of graphs, diagrams, pictures, data, and narrative text displayed on 2 foam core poster boards (each approx. 30" x 40"). The posters are on display near the meeting registration area continuously throughout the 3-day meeting; participants informally discuss their presentations with meeting attendees during the staffed hours for poster sessions.  In addition, poster presenters are invited to display their posters in the hotel ballroom during the Monday evening Welcome Reception.

All categories of Internet2 membership—University, Corporate, Affiliate, Association members and International MOU partners—are welcome to submit proposals for poster sessions. Each poster submission must contain:

  • Title
  • Institution or organization name
  • Brief abstract
  • Contact name and email address

Space is limited; posters will be considered on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Degree of anticipated interaction and information sharing with meeting attendees; relevance of the discussion to advancing their work
  • Impact of advanced networking and advanced applications, with an emphasis on things that are not possible or reasonable to do with the commodity Internet
  • Demonstration of the value of Internet2 to its members and how advanced networking technologies further the mission of research, teaching and learning

Submission deadline is 16 February 2007. Notification will be sent the week of 26 February 2007; logistical information will be provided at that time.

Call for Sponsors

Internet2 is inviting members to sponsor a reception, meals, and refreshment breaks during the Spring 2007 Internet2 Member Meeting. The meeting will focus on advanced networking strategies and policy, highlighting partnerships among academia, industry, government, and the international community. Approximately 700 attendees representing a broad range of disciplines and institutions are expected to participate in the meeting.

Meeting sponsorship opportunities include a pre-meeting international reception on 22 April, welcome reception on 23 April, lunches and refreshment breaks on 23, 24, 25 April.

Sponsors will be recognized in the printed meeting program, on the meeting web site, in Internet2 newsletters, via signage at the event site, and in other appropriate ways. We always welcome suggestions for new ways to acknowledge generous support.

Sponsoring an Internet2 Member Meeting reception, meal, or refreshment break is an excellent way to increase your company's visibility in the research and higher education market, reach technology decision makers at major universities, and showcase engagement and leadership in the Internet2 community.  If you would like to become a meeting sponsor or have any questions about sponsorship opportunities, please contact Ellen Vaughan.
