Spring 2006 Internet2 Member Meeting

PKI Adoption and USHER

April 26, 2006, 1:15 PM - 2:30 PM

Location: Salon B

   Jim Jokl, University of Virginia
   John Krienke, Internet2
   Derek Morr, Pennsylvania State University

Session Abstract The U.S. Higher Education Root (USHER) Certificate authority has launched USHER, a Certificate Authority designed to increase adoption of PKI throughout the higher education community. With a unique set of Expected Practices, USHER is available to the community for all inter-institutional uses of PKI technology. We hope to highlight its unique policy requirements to encourage the community to adopt and deploy PKI as it becomes an integral answer to the security challenges and requirements ahead of us.
