Session Abstract High-definition video has become a mainstream technology in the consumer and professional markeplace, and it is finding its way into research and education. The varied array of HD formats, resolutions, cameras, recorders and codecs has resulted in confusion. Come learn about the new systems that are available. HD codecs will be compared and explained, and production workflow will be outlined. The increasing quality and affordability of live and on-demand video streaming has created a growing demand for high-quality video content. Many assume ?quality? means expensive and find the challenges too daunting to attempt using HD or SD video. With a single camera and basic production tools, Tim Lorang, ResearchChannel, and Rob Smith, the University of Virginia, will demonstrate simple techniques for getting a professional-looking program on a budget. Audience members will walk away with tips and information they can use to improve their next video production, such as camera placement, how to shoot cutaways, camera moves and managing the speaker. Taught by video professional, these techniques are easy to learn.
