Session Abstract Big science grid applications are creating massive amounts of born digital assets in terabyte and petabyte scales. Libraries, museums and broadcasters are rapidly working to transform vast collections of analog objects into the digital realm. Traditionally, each community has viewed digital asset management processes from different perspectives. As the rich digital resources in these disparate communities become interconnected via data grids, new knowledge relationships and concept spaces will emerge, requiring development of new ontologies and access methods to support learning and research. The speaker will discuss ResearchChannel's experiences related to integrating DigitalWellT with data grid services. DigitalWellT is an open source digital asset management system developed by ResearchChannel and the University of Washington (www.digitalwell.org).
