Session Abstract
Substantial progress has been made in developing enterprise identity
and access management components for institutions to use to communicate
and share resources both on campus and across organizational
boundaries. In addition, the knowledge gleaned by the NMI Integration
Testbed has resulted in the establishment of an inter-institutional
grid, led by
Georgia State University and the University of Virginia.
Leveraging this enterprise middleware and experience, the NMI-EDIT
Consortium and NMI Integration Testbed along with new collaborators from
the
United Kingdom are developing tools and resources to enable scientists
and researchers to more effectively and easily participate in national
and international grid-related projects and virtual organizations.
Topics of this session include emerging virtual organization tools,
developing a grid application catalog and operational user-friendly
grid, and integrating grids with enterprise authentication services,
resulting in a truly global sharing of resources. This session will also
describe current activities, offer a glimpse into this collaborative
future, and provide information on how to participate in this
integration project.
